"Writers Present"

Jennifer Kaufman and Karen Mack teamed up to write the entertaining Los Angeles Times Bestseller Literacy and Longing in L.A.. They will appear together as part of the ongoing “Writers Present” series. Jennifer Kaufman is a former L.A Times reporter and Karen Mack is a former entertainment attorney who currently produces theatrical and television movies. Literacy and Longing in L.A. is a novel in which the main character, Dora, reads obsessively for comfort and to escape from her real life. Special AP Finals Super Study Session at the Mission Viejo Library

The Mission Viejo Library will be hosting a Super Study Session for area high school students preparing for Advanced Placement exams.

The library’s community room will be open to students for four hours and will be available for group study. The "Super Study" sessions will be supervised by library staff, who will be available to provide reference and information help. Complementary food and drinks will be provided.

The Super Study Session for AP students will be held Tuesday, May 1, from 5:00pm – 9:00pm. Seating for Super Study Nights is on a space available basis. Pre-registration is not necessary.

Learn how to make your own handmade beaded
jewelry


On Saturday, April 28th from 3:30 – 4:30 p.m., teens and adults will be able to learn how to make beautiful beaded jewelry and create a masterpiece of their own to take home. All materials are provided for free. Registration is required to ensure enough materials are available. The workshop will be held in the Community Room. It’s National Library Week – a time to celebrate the contributions of libraries, librarians and library workers in schools, campuses and communities nation wide and the perfect time for our community to “Come Together @ Your Library”
The Library is celebrating National Library Week by inviting you to create your very own read poster. Visit the Library on Sunday, April 15, 2007 between the hours of 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. and have your picture taken with your favorite book. Please make sure to bring a copy of your favorite book or check with library staff to see if we have one on the shelf.

Spend an Afternoon in Paris with Parisian Mystery Writer Cara Black

Award winning author, Cara Black, is known for her Aimee Leduc investigation series set in Paris. Cara will speak at the Mission Viejo Library as part of the ongoing "Writers Present" Series. The Aimee Leduc mysteries are suspenseful with a Paris setting. The seventh book in the series, Murder on Ile Sanit-Louis will be released in March. Mission Viejo's Namesake Celebrates 35th Anniversary


The Mission Viejo Homeowner's Association, Inc. in Aurora, Colorado will be celebrating the 35th anniversary of the community by bringing in an exhibit prepared by the City of Mission Viejo, California's Heritage Committee. The exhibit will be on display in the newly re-named "Mission Viejo" Aurora Branch Public Library, with another component on display at the Aurora History Museum from March 2, 2007 - June 17, 2007.

The community of Mission Viejo Aurora was officially opened on September 25, 1972 and was built and designed by the Mission Viejo Company of California. The Mission Viejo Company was the developer of the master planned community Mission Viejo, California in Orange County California, which at the time, was part of a large undeveloped area of ranchlands known as Rancho Mission Viejo. The Company was soon purchased by the Philip Morris Company who continued with the California development and expanded operations into Colorado. Mission Viejo Colorado was their largest venture at that time outside California until they embarked on the Douglas County suburban development of Highlands Ranch.

"Writers Present" Series features Phil Doran Author of the Reluctant Tuscan

Phil Doran, a former television sitcom scriptwriter, chronicles his adventures as he and his wife attempt to make a new start by reconstructing a 300 year old villa in Italy.
